            File sharing is the practice of sharing and offer access to various computer data. These data can include common digital medias, such as documents, e-books, pictures, and applications. File sharing can be both positive and negative. File sharing fosters creativity and collaboration, at the same time, file sharing can promote the spread of malware and digital piracy. P2P (Peer-to-peer) file sharing is the distribution and sharing of digital media through peer-to-peer networks. P2P technology uses computer networks that use a distributed architecture that makes users themselves become a server. The computers or devices that are part of a peer-to-peer network are called peers. These peer networks would allow multiple copy of the same file exist in different computers. Therefore, it is hard to shut down a peer network.
            Digital piracy uses P2P technology that allow users to share and exchange digital media that has copyrights. In the article, “Digital Pirates Winning Battle With Studios” by Brian Stelter and Brad Stone, they mentioned that “People have swapped illegal copies of songs, television shows and movies on the Internet for years.” P2P file sharing has enabled digital piracy and caused many loss to big corporations, especially Hollywood movies. P2P file sharing allows users to share any digital content simplify by downloading online.
